Now confirmed that Stephen decided this morning to descend to the North Col to rejoin other team members. He should now be back at Advanced Base Camp, to great relief in the home countries. A decision will be made in the morning about whether any further summit attempt is mounted – factors being considered will include forecast weather, the physical and psychological state of individual team members, and resource availability.
